AB LIFASA Automatic capacitor banks are composed of the following elements:
- High Rupturing Capacity (HRC) fuses connected to a busbar system.
- Contactors specially adapted to the work with capacitors.
- Inrush current limiting inductances.(Optional).
- Fast discharge resistors.(Optional).
- Low losses power capacitors.
- Reactive power controllers.
- Terminals for neutral and ground conductors.
- Metal cabinet containing all the switchgear.

Automatic Filter
 AB Lifasa supply Automatic Detuned filter banks for installation having high levels of harmonic distortion.
These banks are completely assembled and ready for use like Automatic control capacitor bank as explained above.
The low cost, iron core, highly linear reactors of suitable ratings are provided in series with each capacitor unit.
The tuning frequency of the whole unit is set at a value between the fundamental frequency and the frequency of the lowest present harmonics.
AB Lifasa provides a wide range of ratings upto 3000 kva, 440V with tuning frequency of 189 Hz. Other voltage and tuning frequencies are also available on request.

 |  Traditional reactive power compensation equipments with electromechanical contractors, have a well proven performance in installation where the load has, slow variations and it is not very sensitive to voltage fluctuation. Today, however, more and more industrial installations, include electronic equipments that are very sensitive to voltage variations (PLC, computers, etc.) and also have very fast changing working cycles (automatic welding machines, robots, etc. ).
Reactive power compensation with static contractors(Thyristor switch) offers the best answer to these new industry requirements.
AB LIFASA Automatic capacitor banks with static contractors, use thyristors instead of traditional contractors. The thyristors switch-on capacitors on zero crossing voltage, and switch them off on zero current situation. The firing strategy grants a totally transient free switching of power capacitors, avoiding any problems with transient over voltages.

This transient free switching gives a very fast reaction time of the power factor equipments with sudden reactive power demand variations. This reaction time (the time to switch on or off a capacitor step) is usually not higher than 20 milliseconds. This means that upto 50 operations per second are possible.
